The Romanian military leader and later dictator Ion Antonesku declared that he was unconcerned about his legacy as a barbarian, amidst his anti-Semitic beliefs that led to the Odessa massacre in 1941. Decades later, a young woman director attempts to re-enact this painful episode in a theatrical performance about the Romanian army’s “victory”. Jude presents a playful yet profoundly critical perspective on how the representation of the past can distort the understanding of history.
