Based on a real incident of football violence in 2004, the film tells the story of a remorseful hooligan who murdered an Albanian on the day Albania beat Greece in the World Cup. After his release from prison, he finds the victim's family and takes them under his protection. As Maria Komninos notes: “The Correction is a film about forgiveness [...] A lucid, almost Bressonian story that opposes the ''moralistic panic'' about immigrants orchestrated and propagated by the press and television."
