In Ioannina in the early 19th century, Ali Pasha's firstborn son, Mukhtar, and the beautiful Frosini, a widow from a noble family and niece of the despot of Larissa, have a secret love affair. Something that catches the attention of Mukhtar's wife, Hanife, daughter of the powerful vizier of Shkodra, who, blinded by her jealousy, asks her father-in-law to punish the Christian adulteress. The Pasha sends his son with an army to suppress the rebellion in Adrianople and summons Frosini to the palace, where he persistently asks her to become his mistress... A beautiful period romantic melodrama, with Papas shining in a role originally intended for Aliki Vougiouklaki. Grigoriou was inspired by the script from Aristotle Valaoritis' poem "Lady Frosini" and Spyros Melas' monograph "The Lion of Epirus", which, of course, were in turn based on real events of 1800.
