The documentary essay, consisting entirely of archival photographs and document, reflects on the massacre of Jews in Iasi in 1941, where more than 10,000 people were murdered. In the first part, portraits of victims and testimonies of survivors compose a human “encyclopedia” of memory; in the second, silent photographs taken mostly by German soldiers capture the horror. With a deep and reflective gaze, the directors confront history, memory, and violence, as well as the possibilities of their representation.
