1938. Young Ginia has just moved to Turin from the countryside. Looking for adventure she discovers the dazzling artists’ world and begins an affair with a painter. Amelia, the model who leads her into the bohemian quarters, is sensual, free and different from anyone she has ever met. During her 'beautiful summer', Ginia yields to her first great love, celebrating the courage to be truly herself. Based on the novel of the same name by Italian author Cesare Pavese.
Awarded filmmaker Laura Luchetti has directed feature films, short films, music videos, commercials, documentaries and theatre productions. Her first feature film “Febbre da Fieno” was distributed in Italy by Disney and has been awarded by many International Film Festivals. Her second feature “Twin Flower” was selected at the Cannes Film Festival’s Atelier 2015; at The Sundance Screenwriters Lab 2015; presented at TIFF, awarded with the FIPRESCI mention. In 2018 "Sugarlove" was presented as special event of the 33 Venice International Film Critics Week and won Best Animated Film Award at Corti d'Argento. In 2020 Luchetti directed for Rai the TV series “Nudes”. The series premiered in Italy in April 2021 reaching in the first week over one million views and gaining a large success both with the audience and with the critics.
