The Greek Film Archive, Cinecittà, the Italian Embassy and the Italian Cultural Institute of Athens bring a scent of Italy to our screens and present the 3rd Italian Film Tribute Cinema Made in Italy/Athens, taking place from the 20th till the 25th of October, at the Greek Film Archive, Athens.
10 new Italian films, from the greatest international film festivals (Venice, Cannes, Locarno) will be screened.National premieres, discussions, and guests on a wonderful journey to the homeland of Fellini, Visconti, Pasolini and Antonioni.
The audience will watch awarded films by talented new Italian directors (7 fiction, 2 docs, 1 docufiction), as well as the newly restored classic film by Luchino Visconti, Bellissima.
The program covers all the contemporary trends of New Italian cinema, and it presents a panorama of Italian society. This is a first-rate opportunity for the Greek public, to further acquaint itself with its neighbor, with whom they share cultural, economic, scientific, and above all, friendly ties.
The opening film (Friday 20 October) will be A Brighter Tomorrow (Il sol dell’avvenire) by Nanni Morettiwhich was screened at Cannes Film Festival. The actress Barbora Bobulova will attend the screening. A limited number of tickets are available.
All films will be Greek premieres, with Greek and English subtitles.
