The Greek Film Archive presents the premiere screening of Pantelis Voulgaris' Happy Day (1976, 100') in a 4K restoration on Thursday, 12 December 2024 at 19:00, at the Greek Film Archive with free entrance!
The film will also be available to stream across Europe on GFA's platform online.tainiothiki.gr, free of charge.
A roundtable discussion, with free entrance, will precede at 14:00: Digitisation, restoration and the future of European Film Archives at Goethe-Institut Athen (14-16 Omirou str.)
This is the first project presented by the newly formed Digital Restoration Laboratory and the first colour film restored by the Greek Film Archive.
The screening is part of the 13th Athens Avant-Garde Film Festival and is realised with the support of 'A Season of Classic Films’ an initiative by ACE - Association des Cinémathèques Européennes as part of the Creative Europe MEDIA programme.
The digital restoration in 4K and 35mm was realised within the context of the project ‘SUB.4.7 – Digital Film Restoration Laboratory of the Greek Film Archive’ funded by the European Commission – Next Generation EU, in the context of the National Recovery and Resilience plan ‘Greece 2.0’, in collaboration with L’Immagine Ritrovata (Bologna).
