WEDDING DANCE (THE)

Isaias and Anargyros’ match-making agency is going through hard times. They are at an impasse. That’s when Isaias’ shrewd wife Kalliroi steps in to help and launches a pro-marriage (and pro-match-making) campaign in hair salons, football fields, beaches – anywhere. Her efforts pay off; the agency is back in business, and everyone is happy again. But one day, Isaias’ daughter confesses to her father that she is in love with a very wealthy young man, who plans to visit the family at home, so they have to behave as if they too are millionaires, since that is what she had told him. Isaias’ is ecstatic and, in order to play his role well, puts everything he owns in hock. The young man’s father (who is also poor) does exactly the same thing and is forced to sell his little vineyard. The truth comes out soon enough, but it doesn’t discourage the two lovers, who get married and leave directly for Germany to work and pay off their debts.
