Summary Spyros (Marcello Mastroianni) is a teacher in a small provincial town where he has lived his whole life. He is also a former leftist partisan. After his daughter’s wedding and his son’s departure, he leaves his wife and decides to walk through the country with his beehives, following the course of Spring, i.e. the path of the bees. When he meets a young woman hitch-hiker (Nadia Mourouzi), old emotions and memories come back to him. At the end of this trip, Spyros is dispirited. He lies down by his beehives and dies by the attack of the bees.
