EROICA

Posterior title: VIPER (THE)
Adaptation of the homonymous novel by Kosmas Politis, depicting realistically the romantic atmosphere of the time. We are in Aegina in the late ‘30s. The local lyceum graduates, under Loϊzos, set up a fire brigade unit and lead a simple life, resembling that of the ancient Greeks. Loϊzos’ closest friends are Alekos, Dimitris and Andreas. When Nestor, graduate of the catholic school, causes, by mistake, Andreas’ death, Loϊzos starts thinking how to get back at him. In the meanwhile, all of them, especially Alekos, are seduced by sweet Monika, the attractive daughter of the English ambassador. During a ball masquee that took place at her house, Alekos gets close with her brother, Sebastian, who realizes that Monica likes Loϊzos and promises to help them get together. Loϊzos, who is told that Sebastian is the son of a rich diplomat who had been his mother’s lover, leaves the island, together with a mature singer. Now Alekos becomes the leader of the gang, but is so inexperienced that sets Nestoras’ house on fire and forces Monica to make love with him. Then, he pretends to be regretted everything, but Sebastian shoots him to death.
