Credits (and reference to the distinction of the film at the Cannes Festival in 1951). Lengthy programme which begins with an overview of Bunuel's career as a director, when it was still in its infancy. This is followed by a review of the film Bunuel is going to make in Mexico about children in slums in big cities, struggling to survive in an indifferent, hostile world. The programme compares the film with his other productions and lays out all its virtues, such as its "phenomenal simplicity and transparency", the "frequent repetition of bare landscape and the feeling of loneliness they induce", the "lack of close-ups", the swift, short lens travelling, the "purposefully non-existent" décor that conveys the impression of emptiness, the symbolic role of the animals and objects. It is stressed that the montage, too, has "followed the structured, logical unfolding of the story, without flashbacks to the past".
