Credits (and a note that the film is the screen adaptation of the eponymous book by the film's scriptwriter, V. Nabokov). The programme contains biographical notes on the life and work of the great Stanley Kubrickι, who dominated the world cinema with poignant, sharp-tongued films in his search for human existence and the need for faith, like Tarkovsky and Wadja. There is a summary of the storyline, which is about a middle-aged professor who falls in love with a fourteen-year old girl (played by twelve-year old Sue Lyon) and marries her mother so that he can be close to her. There is a note about V. Nabokov, the Russian writer of "Lolita", whose work, although at first labelled pornographic, is actually a sardonic account with moral connotations of the American province. The programme also looks into the director's "creative" approach to novel as a literary genre. The concluding remark is that, although it came in for some mild criticism, the film was a big box office success.
