ΤΑΙΝΙΟΘΗΚΗ ΤΗΣ ΕΛΛΑΔΟΣ, ΜΙΚΡΗ ΛΕΣΧΗ (ΚΑΝΑΡΗ 1) - ΜΟΥΣΣΟΛΙΝΙ
The programme analyzes the efforts of the great “humanitarian” Carlo Lizzani to present the “ferocious predator” Moussolini as “he had reached the end of his thirst for a life of power”. It claims that, in this way, the creator managed to demonstrate the degradation of that end, so that, knowing the dictator’s fate from the beginning , he gives comfort to the old and teaches the young.
The programme contradicts the accusation that characterized MUSSOLINI: THE LAST FOUR DAYS (MUSSOLINI: ULTIMO ATTO) as “not antifascist enough” exactly because it doesn’t present the arrogant, pompous period of Mussolini’s life
but focuses on its end, and mentions the director’s activism and filmography to disprove the claim. Finally, the presentation refers to the “wonderful” performances of the actors.
