The programme begins with a brief reference to the WATERGATE affair that was the greatest journalistic scoop leading to the biggest political scandal of the 1960s-1970s in America. It is characterized as “a monument to the courage of reporters”. Then, the note continues to a critical presentation of the film that borrows the narrative technique of the film-noir and is ranked among the most important films of the 1970s, and is probably the best political thriller. Special reference is made to the leading actors Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman, who play the part of the real-life reporters for The Washington Post in a most exemplary way. The film won two Oscars.
