A critical presentation of the film, which is a film version of Shakespeare’s tragedy, by the National Theatre of England. The director moved the troupe to a studio and had his actors perform the play with the camera on. He finished the film with his own editing, and, as a result, the production resembled a theatrical play. Special reference is made to Laurence Olivier, whose performance was exceptional, “one of the actors who are well aware of the difference between theatre and cinema”. The performances of the other actors were very good as well, and some of them were nominated for an Oscar.
