A film in which the socio-political events of 1917 in Russia unfold: from the toppling of the statue of Alexander III in February, to the fall of the Winter Palace and the seizing of power by the Soviet. "OCTOBER", along with "IVAN THE TERRIBLE" are characterized as "wonderful experimental film". The programme compares it with the film “HIROSHIMA MON AMOUR”. The influence of J. Vertof is obvious, despite the lyricism and non-documentary nature of the film. “OCTOBER” was filmed for the 10th anniversary of the October Revolution. There was unprecedented support from the State, but this marked the beginning of a fall from favor for Eisenstein.
