In AN EYE FOR AN EYE the director deals with the stance of man towards society and his own conscience. The film is psychological and painful – a troubled conscience seeks, but does not find, absolution. On the contrary, the final resolution is death. Finally, the presentation gives a brief account of the life and the other work of Cayatte.
