The presentation begins with a reference to the great creator Federico Fellini and his work. A film-milestone of world Cinema, 8½ (EIGHT AND A HALF) is the masterpiece of the great Italian director. There is a brief account of Fellini’s development from the realism of his first period, which is characterized by social protest, to the neo-realism of his second period, which is characterized by a deeper psychological exploration. 8½ goes one step further as it “breaks any relation to the ‘plot’”. The objective of the scenes succeeding one another is not to serve the plot but to develop a psychological case and its consequences. In this film “the image is perfectly freed from reality and blends with dream, memory and presentiment”.
