A critical presentation of Renoir’s film, which refers to very avant-garde subject of man’s intervention in the functioning of the human brain. In this film, the main character, Etienne Alexis, a famous biologist and supporter of artificial insemination, dreams of the improvement of the human brain “with continuous choices”, in order to render it equal to the technical progress that threatens to surpass it. The film is characterized by imagination, satire, high spirits and joie de vivre, the love for nature and man, a feeling for the outdoors (the shooting took place on the estate where the painter Renoir lived) and the magical use of colour. Renoir uses, for the first time, television methods, a method that many would later imitate. The roles are played by many well-known actors.
