The notes begin with a reference to the previous work of the director Lewis Milestone, the war film “All Quiet on the Western Front”. Sixteen years later, Milestone shot the film “A Walk in the Sun”, about an American patrol, and especially the individual reaction of each of its members, during the landing operation in Salerno, one morning in 1943. The film, one of the most representatives of its genre in the 1940s, incorporates a strong scenario with abundant battle scenes, action and beautiful performances. Although there is no reference to Freud‘s interpretation of subconscious motives and the unmentionable scenes of violence and cruelty, the film stands out for revealing the psychology of its characters. Finally, the programme mentions the later creations of the director.
