The notes begin with a brief reference to the cooperation of the director Jean-Luc Godard with the great German director Fritz Lang and the French actress Brigitte Bardot. The film is about the crisis in the relationship of a seemingly well-matched couple, when the wife, played by Bardot, meets an American producer and so neglects her husband, Michel Piccoli. It is a strange and charming film that focuses on the dead-end of human relations, and breathes a bitterness that refers to the inevitability of tragedy, portrayed through the amazing photography of Raoul Coutard. Finally, the note mentions the protagonists.
