The black and white film of 1908 “16TH CENTURY RUSSIAN WEDDING” by Vasili Goncharov, is an example of Russian pre-revolutionary cinema, which, among other things, also created films based on the works of great painters. The film in question is based on historical paintings of the grand Russian painter Konstantin Makovskii. The film producer is Alexsandr Khanzhonkov, who later cooperated with PATHE in the film “1812”. The programme praises the wonderful photography of Vladimir Siversen and the excellent performances of the actors, among them Pyotr Chardynin
