Frank Capra's "IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE" (1946), after "ARSENIC AND OLD LACE", is one of his most representative productions and an outstanding film of the '40s. It is a dramatic comedy, typical of the genre, which makes imaginative use of the storyline that is about a disillusioned man who decides to take his own life when an "elderly angel" turns up. The note praises the acting talent of James Stuart and refers to the rest of the cast: Lionel Barrymore and Thomas Mitchell. It also refers to the director's later filmography, including "STATE OF UNION", "A HOLE IN THE HEAD" and "THE COUNTESS AND THE GANGSTER".
