The programme begins with an overview of the great director's major productions: "THE MALTESE FALCON", which made Humphrey Bogart an all-time favourite film star; "THE TREASURE OF SIERRA MADRE", "MOULIN ROUGE", "FREUD", "MOBY DICK", "THE MISFITS", "THE BIBLE" and "THE RED BADGE OF COURAGE". This array of films gives evidence of John Huston's pluralism and his undivided attention to factual events. The programme also looks into the causes for the imbalance between the film "ACROSS THE PACIFIC" and the director's other films. The answer lies in the conditions under which the film was made: a few days before the end of the shooting, Huston was drafted into the army, which led him to modify the scenario, turning Bogart into the hands of the Japanese in Panama. Warner did not agree with this ending and takes on Vincent Chairman to complete the shooting of the film.
