According to the note, Fellini's "LA STRADA" is a film "full of compassion and love for man", which adds a touch of tenderness to neorealism. There is a detailed outline of the synopsis: Charlatan Jabano buys Tselsomina a piece of bread and treats her like a servant and lover, touring with her the villages in Italy. When Jabano goes to prison, she remains true to him and waits patiently for his release. Later on in life, they go their own separate ways and when Jabano finds out that Tselsomina has died, the beast inside him gives way to man's vital need for tenderness and love. It is worth noting that the film was shown at the Cannes Festival but only received the Catholic Church Award, as the critics were reluctant to embrace this genre of film, although it did win the Oscar for Best Foreign Film and Best Screenplay in that year.
The note also refers to Fellini's filmography, including "NIGHTS OF CABIRIA" (1956), "DOLCE VITA" (1959), "81/2" (1962), "JULIET OF THE SPIRITS" (1964-65), "SATYRICON" (1970) and "ROMA" (1971). All his films were a big success, but Fellini singles out "LA STRADA", which is of everlasting sentimental value to him.
