ΤΑΙΝΙΟΘΗΚΗ ΤΗΣ ΕΛΛΑΔΟΣ, ΜΙΚΡΗ ΛΕΣΧΗ (ΚΑΝΑΡΗ 1) - LAYER OF DESTRUCTION (ΤHE)

The program gives a short reference to biographical data of the director as well as the distinctions the film was awarded with. Explanation of what does the archeological term DESTRUCTION LAYER mean and analysis of the content of the documentary, namely the double covering of ancient Kallipoli (important city of the Aetolian States Union) by the DESTRUCTION LAYER, first when it was destroyed by the Gauloises in 289 B.C. and then by the construction of artificial lake of Mornos during the 1970’s. The program informs us that the lens of the filmmaker captured an aspect of the city (from a “quick’ excavation) just before it was covered by the waters and mud of Mornos river. It was the “burial of a dream” as mentioned at the end of the program.
