The program starts with a critique analysis of E. Kazan's film, which although not appreciated as much as it should have in its time, today is considered to be a great film of the '50s and one of the great ones of the director. A nobody guy out of town, Rogers, suddenly becomes the man of the day, an idol, when television discovers him and turns him into a 'philosopher'. With a dramatic intensity and a sharp satire style, the film maker shows the American reality, the America of Eisenhower and of the powerful mass media. The presentation is completed with references to the exciting performance of the leading actor and to the other actors that surround him.
