Critique analysis of Romer's film, with an initial reference to the "intelligencia" that characterizes the post-war French cinema and famous idea of Pascal about faith to God on which is built Romer's film, A NIGHT WITH MAUDE. The leading characters around the Christmas table of Maude discuss about Pascal, the Marxist deifies history, the Catholic defends the faith strongly and their philosophical convictions lead to their actions. The epicenter of men, landscapes, ideas, convictions and practical solutions is the idea of Christianity given as a more profound search, as an agony "that we ourselves consciously do not allow to sleep".
