Anthony Asquith's comedy THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST is based on classic stage play by Oscar Wilde with the same title. Its title is based on wordplay: Earnest means serious and Ernest is a main name. It is thus important to be earnest or to be named Ernest.
This comedy is a triumph of drama play with smart dialogues, humor and a plethora of very good English stage actors who managed to render wonderfully the world of O. Wilde.
