Erich Von Stroheim was born in Vienna in 1885 and after working as an extra, actor and screen writer he ended up directing in 1919 (BLIND HUSBANDS). In 1921 he directs the FOOLISH WIVES a super production by UNIVERSAL which initially lasts 8 hours. The film success is great and shocks an audience that was addicted to the light Hollywood movies. In his film that breaks the barriers of the establishment through the story of blue blooded guy who blackmails rich women. He gives the person of the prince the character of a common scam artist. His career peaks in 1924 with the GREED. It is followed by more conventional films until 1928 when he leaves direction for good.
