ΚΙΝΗΜΑΤΟΓΡΑΦΙΚΗ ΛΕΣΧΗ ΛΑΡΙΣΗΣ - ΦΡΑΟΥΛΕΣ ΚΑΙ ΑΙΜΑ
Program of the Larisa Cinema Club, branch of the Greek Film Archive.
Screening of the film " THE STRAWBERRY STATEMENT" by Stewart Hagman. From the very first sentence, the note discusses the film’s theme, based on an autobiographical text by the student James Conen, which won the special prize in the Cannes Film Festival in 1970 and refers to the riots at American universities, through the story of the film’s hero – a part played by Bruce Davison – and his turn from a unconscious member of the university’s seizure to an active one. It is a very modern and well-directed film that […] surprises with its freshness, honesty and objectivity filmed in a "pop" style with many “acrobatics” of the lens, according to the author. The author then explains the film’s title: the word "blood" refers to the bloody riots of students, while the term “strawberries” to the following statement of a blunderbust dean. "Your activity and the elections of your club are of as interesting to me as is whether you like strawberries or not ".
The film is accompanied by the songs of John Lennon and Paul McCartney. At the end of the program, an announcement recruits new members “in order for the club to continue to exist», as well as relevant information.
