Program for the screening of the film "LOVE AND THE FRENCHWOMAN", in collaboration of the Greek Film Archive and the Larisa Cinema Club.
The program mentions the period and the name of the cinema where the film was shown: "ACROPOLE".
The film consists of 7 sketches created by the following seven directors; Michel Boisrond (excerpt from "La Virginité"), Christian-Jaque (excerpt from "Le Divorce"), René Clair (excerpt from "Le Marriage"), Henri Decoin (excerpt from "L'Enfance"), Jean Delannoy (excerpt from "L' Adolescence"), Jean-Paul Le Chanois (excerpt from "La Femme seule") and Henri Verneuil (excerpt from "L'Adultère"), giving their own view on the French woman’s outlook at different stages of her life: childhood, adolescence, virginity, marriage, divorce and, finally, lonely life.
The film’s cast includes several well-known actors, such as Annie Girargot’s and Francois Perrier, Danni Robin and Jean-Paul Belmondot, Martin Carole, Sylvia Monfaurt, Robert Lamoure etc.
The film also allows us to get to know the style of several directors.
The end of the programs features some thoughts by Rene Claire “the one and only cinema director who became a member of the Academy” according to the author, addressed to the French Academy. In sum, Rene Claire proposes the broadening of the audience’s cinema education, in order for every viewer to be fully responsible for his selections and not to be led by other people’s selections.
