Program
ΚΙΝΗΜΑΤΟΓΡΑΦΙΚΗ ΛΕΣΧΗ ΠΥΡΓΟΥ - ΓΡΟΘΙΕΣ ΣΤΗΝ ΤΣΕΠΗ
Program for the screening of the film "I PUGNI IN TASCA" (FISTS IN THE POCKET), in collaboration of the Pyrgos Cinema Club and the Greek Film Archive.
Analytical credit. The film that is screened is the first work of the Italian director Marco Bellocchio, in which he discusses a political issue through the history of a provincial bourgeois family.
The program sets out in detail the film’s plot, which revolves around the tragic story of a blind widow who lives in a small Italian town with her four children, of which one is healthy and the other three are epileptic.
According to the author, the film is reminiscent of Jean Cocteau’s "ENFANTS TERRIBLES”.
Although in Cocteau’s film the heroes are themselves responsible for their lives and are deliberately cut off from the world, Bellochio’s heroes try desperately to become part of society, though their inborn peculiarity precludes them from succeeding.
The film contains many autobiographical elements and is dominated by a feeling of awe that is present nearly "in every scene [...] like [...] an acrobat’s turn”.
