ΚΙΝΗΜΑΤΟΓΡΑΦΙΚΗ ΛΕΣΧΗ ΛΑΡΙΣΗΣ - ΟΣΟ ΘΑ ΥΠΑΡΧΕΙ ΚΟΣΜΟΣ
Program of the Pyrgos Cinema Club, a branch of the Greek Film Archive. After listing the film’s contributors, the note refers to the character of Stanley Kramer and his transition from production to direction in 1955, within the framework of a Hollywood conformism which, however, allowed him to produce films criticizing the major problems at the time: «THE PEOPLE » (1950), «DEATH OF A SALESMAN » (1950), «THE CAINE MUTINY» (1954), «THE DEFIANT ONES» (1958), «GUESS WHO’S COMING FOR DINNER » (1967).
The science fiction film «ON THE BEACH» is based on Neville Shute’s successful novel «ON THE BEACH» and describes the history of a group of people who await an unavoidable destruction in an area of Australia, where the atomic war continues. The film’s direction is aided by Sam Livitt’s photography and the acting of Gregory Peck, Anthony Perkins, Ava Gardner. The note is followed by the director’s filmography until 1973.
