ΚΙΝΗΜΑΤΟΓΡΑΦΙΚΗ ΛΕΣΧΗ ΠΥΡΓΟΥ - ΤΑΧΥΔΡΟΜΙΚΗ ΑΜΑΞΑ, Η
Program of the Pyrgos Cinema Club, a branch of the Greek Film Archive. Note on the screening of John Ford’s film "STAGECOACH", shown within the framework of a tribute to American cinema. An alternative title of the film is also recorded «IMAGINARY GALLOP » along with the original title in English. The note, edited by Christos Alexandridis, refers to the director’s biography through an extensive presentation of his filmography. Between other pieces of information it also states that the first westerns filmed by Ford in Hollywood are not noticed by critics, as they present no original or novel characteristics. Sidetracked from westerns for a few years, he returns triumphantly to his favorite genre with the “STAGECOACH”, an “exquisite Western, one of the best ever shot”, according to the author of the text. Through the story of the coexistence of seven completely different characters on a stagecoach that crosses the New Mexico desert under the threat of Indians, Ford composes a study of human nature, examining the reaction of characters, as they have to get together and approach one another in the face of danger, leading to the discovery that under such conditions one may get to know unknown parts of his self.
