A very personal philosophical-aesthetical critical presentation of the film signed by Mona Mitropoulou. It focuses on the attraction of Risorgimento on Visconti, a nobleman who embraced Marxism and analyses the agony and dilemmas that tear the human soul apart as they emerge through this "in-depth self-psychograph" of the great Italian director. It is a "unique topography, so painfully attractive", one of the happy moments of the world cinema which transforms the entire cast under the formative influence of Rotuno's incomparable photography. Rota's music is described as "human".
