K-CRIME

Tribute to the neo-noir South Korean Cinema

From the 27th of June until the 5th of July 2024
Greek Film Archive

K-Craze is coming to the Greek Film Archive: From K-Pop and K-Dramas to K-Crime: nine neo-noir films of the contemporary Korean cinema!

The Greek Film Archive presents the Tribute K-CRIME: nine neo-noir films of the contemporary Korean cinema, co-organized by the Greek Film Archive and the Thessaloniki International Film Festival. The Tribute will take place in the open-air cinema, Lais, from the 27th of June until the 5th of July 2024, and will not only satisfy the fans of South-Korean crime films but, will also cater to those who want to discover one of the most popular film genres internationally.

It includes, nine iconic full-length fiction films, by some of South-Korea’s most famous directors such as Bong Joon-ho and Kim Ki-duk, as well as surprising gems, from lesser-known creators.

The movies will be prefaced by well-known film critics.

Greek Film Archive’s tribute will introduce us to one of the most thriving and influential film industries of our time, by presenting films that made their mark in cinematic history, combining whodunit plots with multi-layered character sketches and edgy sociopolitical commentary: bloodstained stories of revenge and police mysteries, that explore the darkest aspects of the human soul, interweaving noir and pop aesthetics.

The films of the tribute will be screened in the original language (Korean), with Greek subtitles.
