WIZARD OF ATHENS (THE)

Posterior title: A LOVE THAT DON'T DIE
A musician-magician of noble heritage (Achilleas Madras) wins the hearts of women. When his darling leaves him for a rich man, he does everything in his power to win her back. The making of this film began in 1922 with the title “The Gypsy of Athens” and was not completed. However, excerpts, together with newsreels of the Asia Minor campaign and the following Disaster, were shown at various events of the Greek Diaspora in America. In 1931, Achilleas Madras completed the film with new scenes from various locations in Athens and changed the title to “The Wizard of Athens”. The copy of the film that was released included hand-painted still scenes.
