Movie
VORTEX
Posterior title: FACE OF MEDUSA (THE)
The shooting of the film started in the summer of 1966 in Crete, using the working title The Face of Medusa, and was completed after plenty of revisions in the screenplay and its original form in London, taking the final title Vortex. It is a story of “cannibalism”, where a number of people who kill one another have, as their leader, an attractive female, who, like a medusa or spider, devours any male without inhibition. One day, Filippos sees her through a half-open door in the arms of his younger brother and backs away discreetly so that they won’t notice him. A few days later, on a trip to the Greek islands, his younger brother disappears, and another member of the group, the homosexual Alexis who is in love with Filippos, expresses his worries and demands an answer or else he will report the disappearance to the police. The girl, of course, suspects homicide but says nothing. A suspicious passer-by also falls into the spider web and looks for a way to benefit. Filippos senses the increasing danger, but he is determined to carry on. When the police find the body, Filippos kills the girl, who is now asleep in the arms of the “passer-by”.
