Summary This is one of many adaptations of Dostoevsky’s short story White Nights. We are in Athens in August, when the residents are away on vacation. In the streets of the half-deserted city an idiosyncratic music teacher wanders and daydreams. At the Tower of the Winds in Plaka he meets Anna, a strange girl committed to her fantasies, who is always expecting her beloved to return and take her away as he had promised exactly a year ago when they met. The two protagonists try to draw close to each other, with alternating dialogues and monologues that verge on the absurd.
