Credits
On the occasion of the retrospective organized by the Greek Film Archive Foundation entitled "Three versions of Dostoyevsky's 'White Nights'", there is a brief note in the programme about the plot of the novel that looks into the "odd" love affair of a couple that "goes from the magic of love to a world of dreams and the ultimate denudation of reality". The programme includes informational notes on 4 screen adaptations of the novel by four different directors, beginning with the earliest version, the Italian, Visconti's (1957) – not shown in the retrospective. It is followed by Danilovic's Soviet version (WHITE NIGHTS,1961), Bresson's French version (Four Nights of a Dreamer, 1971) and concludes with Ferris' Greek version (TWO MOONS IN AUGUST, 1978).
