Summary This is a particularly free adaptation of the homonymous play by Ibsen, which takes place at an imaginary small town in Greece, in the mid ‘30s. The healing water sources of Nea Apolloniada, constitute the city’s main income. Some cases of gastric fever concern the local doctor, Spyros Voutsinas (Nikos Kourkoulos), who discovers that in the water of the fountains enter germs, due to the aqueduct’s bad condition. He sends a memo to the company who operates the baths requesting some infrastructures. The mayor and Voutsina’s cousin, who also owns half of the company’s shares and is not willing to spend a dime, comes face to face with the doctor. Between the two men, stand Maria (Efi Roditi), Voutsina’s fiancée and journalist Vlachopoulos, chief editor of the local newspaper.
