Summary The captain Alekos Nikolopoulos doesn’t get along with his wife. One day, he receives a letter from a woman he had met before the war, Kaiti Kouroukli, who reminds him that they had met at a ball and had spent the whole night together. That’s when she got pregnant. In order to avoid the scandal, he left his village and came to Athens. Time went by and Kaiti was raising her child hoping to meet the father again. She never gave up, not even when she heard that he got married to a woman he had met in Cairo. That’s why she turned down her boss’ proposal. She decided to write him a letter when she was informed that she suffers from cancer and has only a few days left. Thus, their child will meet his biological father but will lose him for ever.
