Critical presentation of the first speaking film of Dreyer, which resulted from an order from Baron Nicolas de Günzberg, who plays the leading role. The film has been designated as experimental and as a horror film, a film of decisive significance in the career of the director. It experimented with fade photography and succeeded in creating “one of the most poetic, haunting films ever”.
