35mm MARGUET Colleuse/Splicer

Cement-Splicer. This specific model also has a complete operating manual. It is used to join the ends of two pieces of film in order to make an “edit” while performing the montage. The edges of the film are fixed and stabilized by placing the perforations at the side of the film on registering pins, which are located in a groove on the specially designed base. The two edges are ‘scratched’, cut and joined with a special cement at the desired spot. The usefulness of this type of splicer is due to its being able to be used for both negative and positive film, since the splice can “pass” through the projector. Modern estar-based film cannot be spliced using cement and must use either adhesive tape or a special ultrasonic splicer. Gift of Giorgos Kampanellis.
