35mm Negative Splicer of unknown manufacture
Used to join the ends of two pieces of film in order to make an ‘edit’ while doing the montage of negative film. This specific procedure follows the editing of a work print and precedes the printing of the film. The edges of the two pieces of film are fixed and stabilized by placing the perforations at the side of the film on registering pins which are located in a groove on the specially designed base. This particular model is a cement type, probably from the 1950s.
